MILLENNIUM RESERVE GUIDEBOOK
Bluestem Communications worked with a diverse Task Force of people who live and work throughout the Millennium Reserve and Greater Calumet region of Illinois and Indiana to produce a beautiful, full-color Guide to the natural and cultural resources of this fantastic area. Available in PDF form at www.MillenniumReserveGuide.org, this book is designed to inspire both residents and visitors to get out and explore the world around them.
The book was updated in 2016 and is now available as the Second Edition!
Both the original 2014 Guide and the 2016 update were generously funded by an education grant from NOAA’s Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Coastal Management Program. Thanks to this funding, and additional support from ComEd, Gaylord & Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Cook County and REI Co-op, the Guidebook is available in both printed and electronic PDF forms. To request a printed copy, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Millennium Reserve and Greater Calumet region is bursting with history, culture and beautiful natural landscapes. Unfortunately, many overlook this region and consider it to be home only to industry and old landfills. Our Guide to the region invites people to see past the myth to the beauty around them.
For over a year, Bluestem coordinated the Task Force of local experts, thoroughly research the region, wrote content, collected images and designed the final book. In addition, we orchestrated a small campaign to distribute the Guide throughout the region.
