Bluestem Communications began as Biodiversity Project, part of a think tank in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1995. Even then, we were on the forefront of using values-based messaging in the environmental community. Our organization conducted many groundbreaking public opinion polls that explored serious environmental issues like biodiversity, sprawl and Great Lakes protection.

In 2008, our organization moved to Chicago and expanded our mission. Now, we not only conduct research, but we also build coalitions, develop strategies, create campaigns and evaluate progress. While our mission and expertise has expanded and our name has changed, Bluestem Communications still uses the methods we pioneered in creating and implementing education and outreach campaigns 20 years ago.

Our current projects include work with a variety of partners in the Great Lakes and Mississippi River regions, with additional projects in Texas and the Pacific Northwest.
